Handle any Image Format
The IMAGINE MrSID Desktop Encoder and IMAGINE MrSID Workstation Encoder are technology licensed from LizardTech for use within ERDAS IMAGINE. A basic MrSID read (decode) capability exists everywhere within the IMAGINE suite. Like ERDAS’ ECW data format, MrSID is a wavelet-based data format designed to enable true portability of massive images. It enables instantaneous viewing and manipulation of imagery both locally and over networks while sacrificing little image quality.

Unprecedented File Size Reduction Ratios
IMAGINE MrSID Encoder intuitively compresses your data, offering unprecedented reduction ratios without altering the visual quality of your data. Reduction ratios vary depending on image content and color depth, but are around 10-20:1 for gray scale and 20-50:1 for full color with often little perceptible loss of visual quality.

Multiple Resolutions from Single-source Files
The IMAGINE MrSID Encoder ensures that all projection and geometric transformation information is retained inside the SID file, as well as offers external options. This ensures that applications such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, FalconView, MapInfo, GoogleEarth and ERDAS IMAGINE have access to all the georeferencing information provided by the original data format.

Versatile Compression - Three Levels of Capability
The IMAGINE MrSID Encoder modules enable the MrSID encoding of any raster format supported by ERDAS IMAGINE and is integrated seamlessly into the geographic imaging workflow. Every license of ERDAS IMAGINE has native read capability, and MrSID encoding (compression) capability for input images up to 50 million pixels (approximately 50MB of 8-bit image data). The IMAGINE MrSID Desktop Encoder will handle input files between 50 and 500 million pixels. The IMAGINE MrSID Workstation Encoder will handle input files over 500 million pixels (unlimited).
